Kogetsu Weekend Brunch, The Saujana Hotel KL

One of the things high on our "To Eat" list after we got back from our holidays was Japanese food. And so, we kicked it off with an all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet at Kogetsu Japanese Restaurant in The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur last weekend.

Priced at RM145 per person, diners can indulge in a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, including fresh sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, tempura, grilled meats, deep fried dishes, simmer dishes, soups, noodles and desserts. An added bonus is that kids below the age of 12 can eat for FREE!

This is an a la carte buffet, which means you can choose and place unlimited orders from the menu. I prefer this kind of buffet, as it means your food is always freshly prepared to order. However, they do have a few items on the buffet spread, such as sushi, appetizers and desserts.

Appetizers include edamame, Japanese potato salad, as well as seasoned seaweed (chuka wakame)

Help yourself to a variety of makis and sushis (tuna, salmon, ebi, cuttlefish, seabass).

To start, we ordered a platter of sashimi, which consisted of salmon, tuna, butterfish and mackarel. The fish were thickly sliced and fresh. Of course, we couldn't resist but order a couple more plates of salmon sashimi after that. YUM!

BabySumoKids enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The food was good, so they kept asking / going back for more :) Their favorites were the sushi, miso soup, tempura, beef teppanyaki and desserts.

Worth mentioning is the stellar service staff, which were friendly and made our kids feel very welcomed.

We also ordered a few agemono (deep fried dishes) such as the soft shell crab, ebi tempura (prawns) and shirauo karaage (fried white bait). All fried to crispy perfection!

A must-order here is the unagi kabayaki (grilled eel). Super good, we had to go for seconds!

Another favorite of ours were the teppanyaki dishes. We ordered the gyu hire (beef tenderloin), hotate (scallop) and ebi (prawn), all beautifully done. I especially loved the beef, so tender and coated in a delicious sauce.

For dessert, they have a selection of cakes and jellies, fresh fruits, and mochi. You can also order ice cream from the menu.

Available every Saturday and Sunday from 11.30am to 3.00pm. Kids under 12 eat for free, limited to two per single receipt.
